- il convertitore catalitico è una struttura metallica a nido d'ape che incorpora metalli preziosi (palladio, rodio e platino) sulla sua superficie;
- questi metalli trasformano il monossido di carbonio tossico e gli idrocarburi non combusti presenti nei gas di scarico in anidride carbonica e vapore acqueo non tossico.
